wireless set-up II / help yourself

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

The tech guys of the TU Berlin have published instructions for multiple operating systems (Windows/Mac …) on how to connect to the (inter)net via Wi-Fi/WLAN.

First you need an “TU user account” which you should have got at the same time you got your student ID card. You should have got a username and a password. These are the basic requirements to use the Wi-Fi.

Afterwards you have to set-up the right Wi-Fi connection. This is a more complex procedure although with the help of the instruction documents this should be easy, too. Unfortunately it’s written in German only - but give it a try and look at the pictures! :)

If you still have problems feel free to ask or come around!

uploading videos on youtube.com

Monday, May 11th, 2009

the account name is UrbanOccupationBLN, the password is <studiocode>berlin. the procedure is intuitive. be aware that uploading big files may take a while, it might be good to upload them from within the lan network of the university (e.g. adip department, or the computer pool in A316a, CIP Pool etc.).

to place a video in the blog you simply open the youtube site of your clip and copy the code you find under embed/einbetten (right hand side, next to the clip) to the clipboard (Ctrl + C). then, log into our blog, start a new post,  change to the HTML view of post editing (top-right of text area) and paste the code in there (Ctrl + V).

after that you can switch back to Visual view and enter your text etc.
